Several construction works in Suryapet district have come to a standstill. A Big Masjid constructed with ₹1.10 crore remains incomplete, the Shadi Khana project has been halted due to court intervention, the Minority Community Hall construction is limited only to a foundation stone, the Waqf Board is in a dormant state, and there is no response from the Minister, MLA, public representatives, or officials in Suryapet. For the past few years, various development works related to the Muslim minority community in the district headquarters have remained stalled. There seems to be no one to take responsibility for these issues. Major projects such as the Big Masjid constructed at a cost of ₹1.10 crore, the Shadi Khana proposed with a budget of ₹2 crore, and the Minority Community Hall planned with ₹40 lakhs have been stopped midway, and months have passed without progress. It is known that during the BRS government tenure, the then Minister Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy initiated these construction works. However, despite these projects being halted for several months, the concerned officials have not paid proper attention, which is a matter of concern. Among these, the major issue is the renovation of the Big Masjid, which was built nearly 500 years ago and is located near the town library. For its renovation, the then Minister and present MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy sanctioned ₹50 lakhs. With much publicity, the construction works were started in 2018. With the sanction of the first installment of ₹50 lakhs, the Masjid works began. The work progressed slowly and irregularly. Bills for the completed work were also cleared. However, the construction stopped at the pillar stage. Later, citing insufficient funds, another ₹50 lakhs was sanctioned again in 2022 for the construction.
