He worked for IIM until 1971, after which he went abroad for a job. During this period, he spent some time working in Paris. However, in 1973, he left this job and spent the next eleven months traveling to 25 different countries. During this journey, he experienced many different cultures of the world and decided that he would become an entrepreneur. Immediately after returning from this trip, he started a small consulting company called Softronics. Despite working hard for a year and a half, his company failed, and Narayana Murthy's dream of becoming an entrepreneur was shattered. Murty Although he was not one to give up easily, his wife, Sudha Murty (then Sudha Kulkarni), had entered his life by then, and there was pressure on him to settle down as soon as possible. Sudha Murty's father would not agree to their marriage until he was settled. Due to this, Narayana Murthy started working at a company called Patni Computer Systems. In 1978, he married Sudha and settled in both his career and life. Everything was going well in his life, but Narayana Murthy was still not satisfied with his life because, deep down, he still wanted to be an entrepreneur. For this reason, in 1981, he borrowed ₹10,000 from his wife, Sudha, and started a new company with six of his junior colleagues, which he named Infosys. Sudha Murty mentions that before Infosys became successful, she spent a lot of money on Narayana Murthy. Narayana Murthy first met Sudha during his struggling days, and at that time, his financial condition was so bad that Sudha herself had to bear the expenses of their meetings and dates. Sudha belonged to a well-off family and became financially independent by working at a very young age. It is worth noting that Sudha Murty was the first female employee to work as an engineer at Tata Motors (earlier known as Telco). Using the ₹10,000 borrowed from his wife, Narayana Murthy started the Infosys company. The front room of his house was made the company's first office. The company's situation was such that it took them one year to get a telephone connection and three years to install a single computer. Despite all this, Narayana Murthy and all his partners continued their efforts to run the company. Finally, after some time, they received funding from a US company, and Infosys's work began in a joint venture with that company. Unfortunately, in 1989, this joint venture broke for some reason, and Infosys was back to where it started. This was the time when everyone was advising Narayana Murthy to shut down the company. Despite all this, he never gave up and continued his efforts to run the company. Finally, after a few years, the bad time ended, and his relentless hard work started paying off. The company began to receive new contracts. Additionally, after Liberalization came to India in 1991, Infosys also started growing very rapidly along with India. Soon after, the company started expanding its presence to other countries outside India. In 1999, it became the first Indian company in history to be listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in America. After this, Infosys never looked back and quickly became counted among the biggest and most successful companies in India. Today, Infosys's business has spread not only across India but across the whole world, and it is counted among the world's top IT companies. Through his story, Narayana Murthy has taught us that success in life is achieved by those who face the situation with courage instead of giving in to it. The one thing about Narayana Murthy that is still most liked is his humble behavior. Narayana Murthy is so down-to-earth that he never let his success overpower him and always lived his life with simplicity. Not only Narayana Murthy, but his wife, Sudha Murty, is also quite famous for her simplicity. You will be surprised to know that in a recent interview, Sudha Murty revealed that she has not bought a new saree for herself in the last 21 years. This is why both these people are counted among the most inspiring personalities in our country today. Thank you very much for your valuable time.
