You’ve been told your problem is that you don’t love yourself enough. That you need affirmation. Healing. Self-acceptance. But what if the problem isn’t that you love yourself too little? What if it’s that you love yourself too much? Pride hides behind insecurity. Ego hides behind victimhood. We defend ourselves instinctively. We justify instantly. We protect our image at all costs. That’s not low self-esteem. That’s self-centeredness. The gospel doesn’t say, “Believe in yourself.” It says, “Deny yourself.” That’s offensive. But it’s freeing. Because the weight of being your own god is crushing you. You were never meant to sit on that throne. Step down. There is a better King.
