Hello, my name is Dafne Aislinn Zermeño Medina and this is my presentation of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. She was born in San Miguel Nepantla, a town in the state of Mexico. As a child, she loved going to her grandfather's library and reading everything she could until she began to long to be part of it. She began to use her free time to write. In 1657, she won a prize for a poem she dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament. At age 10, she moved to Mexico City, and at 16, she entered the service of Viceroy Leonor de Carreto, dedicating her poems to the Viceroy. But she liked studying, so she became a nun. Some time later, the bishop of Puebla forbade him to read and write, selling his books and distributing the money to the poor, although he kept some copies that he hid under his bed. Sor Juana died from an epidemic that reached the convent of San Jerónimo in April 1695. In conclusion, I chose her because her passion for letters has inspired many other authors to put their ideas into writing and enjoy the beauty of words.
