Hello, my name is Janet Smith. I'm 78 years old, and I'm going to tell you the story that completely changed my life. Before I continue, please kindly leave a like on this video and subscribe to the channel. And let me know in the comments where you are watching from. I love knowing that my story is reaching different places. It was 1972. I was 25 years old and believed I had built a perfect family. We lived in a small town in rural Missouri, one of those places where everyone knows each other. My husband, Mark, worked as an accountant at the only bank in town. We married young — I was 17, he was 22. Back then, that's just how things were. A good girl didn’t stay single for too long. We had two small children, Robbie, who was 6, and Lucy, who was 4. I was what they called the perfect housewife. I woke up early at 5 AM, made coffee, got the kids ready for school, took care of the house, washed, ironed, cooked. My life revolved around the well-being of my family. Back then, that was what was expected of a good wife.
