We are hearing left and right about the importance of this one night, Leila. Tulad scholars are talking about it, imams are reminding us, and our hearts are starting to feel the weight of its value. And like most of us, we wonder: what exactly should we be doing on this night? How can we maximize our rewards? How can we stand out in the sight of Allah on the most sacred night of the year? There are seven things we must strive to do on this night—seven powerful actions that could change our entire destiny. And remember, any of these nights from the last 10 nights of Ramadan could be Leila, so don't hold back—give it your best. The first thing we must do is stand in Qiyam-ul-Layl (night prayer). If you can pray Taraweeh in the masjid, don't miss it. It's one of the most beautiful ways to connect with Allah in congregation. But even after you return home, don't stop there. Add extra rak'ahs throughout the night. Even just two units of prayer, prayed with sincerity, can weigh heavily on your scale. This is the night to pour your heart out in sujud, to cry in sajdah, to whisper your hopes and regrets to Allah. Whoever stands in prayer on Laylatul Qadr out of faith and hoping for reward, all his past sins will be forgiven. Whether you're in the masjid or alone in your room, stand, pray. The point is to spend the night in worship because these hours are not ordinary—they are drenched in mercy. Don't let them slip away while your soul remains silent. The second thing is to recite the Quran. This is the night it was first revealed, when Allah sent down His final message to mankind. So reconnect with it tonight. Open the Quran not just with your eyes but with your heart. Even one verse, if reflected upon deeply, can be the light that guides you for years to come. The third thing we should do is raise our hands in dua. Talk to Allah like you've never talked to anyone before. Tell Him your fears, your pain, your hopes, your secrets. Ask Him to forgive you, to heal you, to guide you, and to save you. And don't forget the special dua taught by the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam): "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni" (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love to forgive, so forgive me). Say it with your heart, over and over, like your salvation depends on it—because it might. The fourth act is remembering Allah. Let your tongue flow with His remembrance: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar. These are not just phrases; they are your soul calling out to its Creator. Fill the silence of the night with the praise of the One who created the night. The fifth thing to do is give in charity. Even if it's a small amount, give something. Maybe that one coin, that one dollar, that quiet donation could be the deed that tips your scale in the hereafter. Allah sees the intention; He sees the sincerity behind the smallest act. The sixth act is sincere repentance. Take a moment and look inward. Think about the sins you've buried, the mistakes you've made, the moments you drifted away from Allah. And then ask Him to pull you back. Tonight is not just about forgiveness—it's about transformation. Repent deeply, and know for certain that Allah is ready to welcome you back with open arms. And the seventh and final thing: send salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). He is the reason we know what Laylatul Qadr even is. He wept for us, prayed for us, loved us without ever seeing us. Recite "Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala ali Muhammad" and send blessings upon the one who was a mercy to the worlds. My dear brothers and sisters, this might be our last Laylatul Qadr. We might not live to see another Ramadan. Don't scroll this night away. Don't sleep through what could be the night your name is written among the people of Jannah. The angels are descending, the gates of mercy are open, the pens are recording. Let this be the night your heart turns back to Allah, the night your soul is rewritten, the night your past is forgiven, and your future is filled with light. May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul Qadr, may He accept from us, forgive us, and make us among those saved from the fire and granted the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.
