It was exactly two o’clock in the morning… Mary was sitting alone, reading a book in the library of the old Zamindar’s house. Suddenly— the paperweight on the table rolled off by itself… and fell to the floor! Startled, Mary bent down to pick it up— only to see a pair of wet footprints right beside her feet on the old wooden floor! Yet… it wasn’t raining outside. She quickly stood up and looked all around the room, but there was no one there. Just as she was gasping— and about to run toward the door— she heard a whisper: “Where did you put my book…?” Mary looked behind her… and saw a shadowy figure standing right there— its eyes as black as deep darkness. Just as its hand reached out toward Mary’s shoulder— Mary screamed… and fainted! The next morning, she was found unconscious. All the books that had been in the library that night were scattered across the floor— and only one page was open… where it was written: “Don’t be alone.”
