I landed in New York and less than a week later, I was booked for my very first campaign here. For Ceremonia, a haircare brand you might know from Sephora. Call time was 7 AM, the elevator was broken & we were carrying gear up the stairs to their Headquater studio. My assistant, who actually found me on Instagram, was right there by my side all day long & It still feels surreal to have someone from my community supporting me on set in New York. Because of Fashion Week, a few of the light modifiers I had ordered didn’t arrive on time. And that’s the reality of being a traveling photographer. Equipment issues happen. But at the end of the day, you can’t stand in front of your client and say, ‘Sorry, I can’t do it.’ You just deliver & work with what you have. That’s something I always teach my assistants: a true professional doesn’t look for excuses, they find solutions. And honestly, many times, these situations push you to be even more creative and can lead to some of the best results. & so it did that time, we worked with four stunning models, the client was thrilled, and I can’t wait for you to see the final images at Sephora early next year.
