The patriotic symbols of Brazil are the flag, the coat of arms, and the national anthem, and each of them represents the country’s history, culture, and values. The flag was adopted on November 19, 1889, after the proclamation of the Republic; its green color symbolizes natural wealth and tropical forests, while the yellow rhombus represents gold and mineral resources. In the center, there is a blue circle with 27 white stars that correspond to the states and the Federal District, arranged according to the sky over Rio de Janeiro on the night of November 15, 1889. The white banner bears the inscription “Ordem e Progresso” (“Order and Progress”), inspired by the positivism of Auguste Comte. The national coat of arms, created the same year as the flag, displays a blue sphere with the constellation of the Southern Cross surrounded by a circle of stars representing the states. Behind it appears a sword, symbolizing the defense of the nation, and on the sides, coffee and tobacco branches reflect crops of great historical and economic importance. At the bottom, a blue ribbon bears the inscription “República Federativa do Brasil” along with the date of the proclamation of the Republic. The national anthem was composed by Francisco Manuel da Silva in 1822, although its lyrics were made official in 1922, on the centenary of independence. It is a solemn and vibrant piece that exalts freedom, the beauty of the land, and the pride of the Brazilian people, conveying love for the homeland and the willingness to defend it. Together, these three patriotic symbols reflect Brazil’s identity, recalling its history and projecting its ideals of unity, progress, and respect for its natural and cultural wealth
