Today I’d like to talk about a deeply memorable trip I took to Los Roques, Venezuela, and an unexpected encounter with an animal that We stayed on Gran Roque, a small yet vibrant island with charming houses, narrow streets, and a welcoming local community. Daily life felt slow-paced and uncomplicated, which allowed me to disconnect completely from stress and routine. I felt emotionally balanced, peaceful, and genuinely happy, surrounded by such pristine natural beauty. However, one day we had a slightly tense and surprising experience. While we were sitting on the beach with some food, a large, robust iguana approached us. At first, I found it fascinating and amusing, as it seemed calm, confident, and oddly curious. But suddenly, it moved in a swift and unpredictable way and tried to snatch my bag. I felt startled, intimidated, and momentarily overwhelmed. My heart was racing, and I didn’t know how to react. The iguana’s intense stare and rapid movements made the situation feel more serious than I expected. Fortunately, my friend stayed calm, and we slowly stepped back, which helped de-escalate the situation. Afterwards, I understood that the animal was not aggressive, but simply opportunistic and food-motivated. This experience reminded me that wildlife, even when it appears harmless or passive, can be unpredictable and territorial. To conclude, I would strongly recommend visiting Los Roques, as it is an extraordinary, tranquil, and unforgettable destination. My main recommendation is to respect wildlife, secure your food, and follow local advice, in order to preserve such a fragile and unique ecosystem and enjoy the experience responsibly.
