All TV producers want their programmes to be very popular. The fact that more people are watching some TV programme probably demonstrates its popularity. But are all those people really watching it? Many families, after all, just have their TV switched on at certain times of day. And even if they are actually watching a programme, does that mean they enjoy it? Some interesting results of a BBC survey have recently been published, and the answers to these questions are "no". Interestingly, the most popular programmes were a New Year's Day concert, several nature documentaries, a documentary about a brain operation. The soap "EastEnders" was traditionally at the top of the list.
