Province of Laguna Laguna is a province in the CALABARZON region, known for its natural attractions and rich culture. It is called the Detroit of the Philippines because of its many factories, and the Spring Resort Capital of the Philippines due to its hot spring resorts. The capital of Laguna is Santa Cruz, known as the Center of Progress because of its continuous growth and development. The people of Laguna are called Lagunense. They are friendly and hardworking, and Tagalog is the main language spoken in the province. Laguna is also known for its colorful festivals. The Anilag Festival showcases Laguna’s culture, food, and local products. The Buntog Festival and Coconut Festival celebrate the importance of coconuts to the province. Some famous attractions in Laguna include Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines; Enchanted Kingdom, a popular theme park; Pagsanjan Falls, known for its scenic boat ride; and the hot spring resorts of Calamba. Laguna is also known for Liliw, the Tsinelas Capital, and Paete, the Wood Carving Capital. Lastly, Laguna is famous for its delicious Buko Pie, made from fresh young coconut.
