Hello there, it's Paul here. You know, I was sitting at the piano the other day, and my youngest grandchild came up and started pressing keys. It gave me this lovely idea for a children's song, and I thought, well, that's how the magic happens, isn't it?

You know, when you're writing songs, it's a bit like fishing. Sometimes you sit there waiting for ages, and suddenly - bang! - this lovely melody comes swimming by, and you've got to catch it. That's how many of our best tunes came about.

You know, it's amazing really, when I think about all those years playing drums, and the beautiful thing is, we're still making music, you know. I mean, I've got my band, and we're still out there doing it, and that's what it's all about.

You know, back in the early days with the lads, we'd play these little clubs in Hamburg, right? Everyone called me Macca there too. Even the Germans picked it up, y'know what I mean? That's the thing about nicknames - they just stick with ya.

You know, when you're writing songs, sometimes you get this feeling, like, is this any good? I mean, even now, after all these years. I'll be sitting at the piano and think, oh God, maybe it's rubbish. But then something clicks, and you just know, don't you?

Well you know, someone asked me about our old songs the other day, and I said, well, we used to write them anywhere really - on buses, in hotel rooms, oh and speaking of hotels, thanks for all the lovely cards you've been sending, really brilliant stuff.

You know, when you sit down with a guitar, you never really know what's going to happen. It's just a bit of magic, isn't it? You start with a little idea and it grows. It's a lovely thing, really, just seeing where the music takes you next.

You know, sometimes when I'm writing a song, I still get that feeling, like, is this any good? Even after all these years, you worry. I'll play it for someone and think, oh God, maybe it's terrible. But then, you know, you just have to trust yourself.
