I was driving to work this morning, and you know what my mind started doing? I kept imagining the car breaking down in the middle of nowhere. And then I started thinking about being late for my meeting, and my phone dying, and nobody being able to find me.

You know what, people keep telling me I need to dress my age or whatever. Like, what does that even mean? I'm wearing what I want, and yeah... you know what? If somebody don't like it, they can, uh... keep that opinion to themselves. Damn.

And then he turned to me and he had that smile, that same smile he always had. He said you got to keep going, and he looked at the horizon and he looked at the crowd. He was just standing there, and he was taking it all in one last time.

You know, as you get older, like, your mindset just changes. I ain't got the time to be playing games or dealing with all that unnecessary drama. I’m looking for that real peace of mind, man. Like, the fast life was cool then, but it don't hit the same.

Back in 2015, I finally started seeing a therapist. As a Black man, it wasn't easy taking that step. My community, we don't always talk about these things. But sitting there in that office, I felt something changing. Something healing.
