You know, when I look at my kids growing up in this world, I feel both hope and fear. Every morning when they leave for school, I have those same worries that generations of black mothers have carried. We're still fighting for that peace of mind.

You know, when I look at my family, I see love that transcends everything society tries to put in boxes. And it's... it's beautiful, but it also comes with this responsibility to understand, to learn, to really listen to experiences different from our own. That's what changes us.

I've learned that strength isn't about hiding your emotions or pretending to be perfect. It's about embracing who you are, acknowledging your feelings, and understanding that your authenticity is actually your superpower.

When you look at your children, you just want to protect that light in them. It is a deep, overwhelming responsibility we all share. We really, really need to understand the world they are walking into, ensuring every single child can grow up without that heavy, constant fear.

You know, when I talk to other mothers about their experiences, I really, really see how different our journeys are. Some of us can let our kids play outside without fear, while others... others have to have those hard conversations from day one. That's not right, it's just not right.

You know, being a mother has taught me so much about, about seeing the world differently. I look at my kids and I think, every child deserves that same love, that same safety. And it's just... it's heartbreaking that we're still fighting for basic human dignity in this world.

I spent time with these families, you know, listening to their stories. And what struck me was the, the incredible strength they showed. Even in their darkest moments, they found ways to support each other. That's what I learned about humanity through this experience.
