When I look at my kids, I feel this deep responsibility to protect them from a world that doesn't always see their light. It’s a constant, constant worry that stays with you, because every mother should be able to just breathe and know her child is truly safe.

When I look at my daughter in school, I see all our children trying to navigate this world. We have to fight for their safety, their dignity, their future. Every mother knows that fear, that constant worry, but for mothers of color, it's a different level of awareness.

I spent time with these families, you know, listening to their stories. And what struck me was the, the incredible strength they showed. Even in their darkest moments, they found ways to support each other. That's what I learned about humanity through this experience.

You know, when I look at my kids growing up in this world, I feel both hope and fear. Every morning when they leave for school, I have those same worries that generations of black mothers have carried. We're still fighting for that peace of mind.

Looking back at my journey, I've faced anxiety, self-doubt, toxic relationships, and countless sleepless nights. But here I am, still standing, still fighting. Every tear made me stronger, every setback taught me resilience. I'm proud of who I'm becoming.

When you look at your children, you just want to protect that light in them. It is a deep, overwhelming responsibility we all share. We really, really need to understand the world they are walking into, ensuring every single child can grow up without that heavy, constant fear.
