You know, when I look at my kids growing up today, I see both hope and fear. I want them to live in a world where they're truly free, but I also understand the weight that comes with being a mother in this society, especially when your children face different challenges.

You know, when I talk to other mothers about their experiences, I really, really see how different our journeys are. Some of us can let our kids play outside without fear, while others... others have to have those hard conversations from day one. That's not right, it's just not right.

When I look at my daughter growing up in this world, I feel both hope and fear. I want her to be strong, but I also know the reality of being a woman of color. Every morning, I pray for her safety, just like generations of mothers before me.

You know, as parents, we're all trying to figure it out, really trying. But there's this beautiful moment when you realize that love doesn't see color, it doesn't see differences. It's just pure, and raw, and terrifying, and wonderful all at once. That's what being a mother has taught me.

When I look at my daughter in school, I see all our children trying to navigate this world. We have to fight for their safety, their dignity, their future. Every mother knows that fear, that constant worry, but for mothers of color, it's a different level of awareness.
