Why is writing letters so hard? Talking to you is always easy, I guess because a letter isn’t like a real conversation. I have to say a bunch of stuff and then wait weeks for your reply. It’s like a conversation between two people who have been hit with a slow spell. California is okay I guess. It’s way hotter than Hawkins and it’s always sunny. I miss clouds. I miss you.

I remember playing this small venue in Austin and Josh Abbott was there, and he came up to me after the show and we talked about songwriting and stuff. And so that really helped me understand more about the Texas music scene and how it all works.

You know, I was like, at this amazing audition and, like, the director was there and everything, and I was so, you know, nervous but excited. And when they called me back I'm like, exactly like that, I couldn't believe it, you know?

I was a little bit busy with some other stuffs… so now you believe me?

So I was walking through the airport with this massive guitar case and everyone was looking at me like I was a rockstar or whatever but honestly it was just packed with snacks and whatnot because I didn't want to buy the expensive food inside and security started laughing.

You know, sometimes when people act weird or different, it's like, it's because they're trying to protect themselves, like building a wall or something. But friends, real friends, they see through that, and they stay even when it's scary, even when it's hard.

Just got back from visiting my sister at the hospital, she's doing better today. The doctors say her recovery is going well, and we're all hoping she can come home next week. Been spending a lot of time with family lately.

You know, I was sitting on my back porch the other night, working on this new song idea, and it just kind of came together. My brother stopped by, we started jamming acoustic, and that's really how the best country music happens, just natural like that.
