At SGT University, a visionary initiative was launched to transform the way higher education is delivered—an initiative driven by the Centre of Excellence for Andragogical and Pedagogical Sciences, better known as CEAPS. Established in October 2022, CEAPS stands as a dedicated hub to empower educators, improve teaching practices, and align higher education with global standards and the goals of India’s National Education Policy 2020. Its vision is to be globally recognized for empowering facilitators in achieving excellence in higher education. And its mission is multifold: To promote andragogical approaches in universities, To develop and share best teaching practices, To foster innovation and research, And to translate knowledge into evidence-based teaching methods. CEAPS is backed by an expert leadership team and a prestigious external advisory board, including academic leaders from institutions like IIT Kanpur, AIIMS, NIEPA, Sikkim Manipal University . This collaboration ensures that CEAPS remains rooted in academic excellence, innovation, and global perspectives. To carry out its mission, CEAPS launched Phase -I of trainings through a series of capacity-building programs beginning in December 2022. These workshops and faculty development programs covered essential topics such as: • Foundational Module • Outcome-Based Education, • MOOCs and E-content development, • Pedagogic effectiveness, • Use of AI and ChatGPT in education, • Ethics and professionalism, • And interdisciplinary research methods. CEAPS also organized faculty-specific workshops across various disciplines—ranging from Medical to non-medical domains. These department-wise programs ensured subject relevance and contextual learning. In 2024, CEAPS elevated its impact by initiating a landmark global collaboration—signing an MoU with the Skills and Education Group in the United Kingdom. This partnership opened the door for an international faculty development program focusing on innovative teaching, learning, and assessment strategies. Between April and June 2024, a structured training program was conducted, combining online workshops and in-person mentoring sessions. The highlight was the UK visit, where selected faculty members from SGT University explored institutions like Leicester College, Nottingham College, Nottingham Trent University, and King’s College London. During this international tour, educators engaged in immersive learning—observing real-time use of simulation labs, smart teaching environments, student self-assessment models, mental health support systems, and virtual reality-enabled instruction. The team returned with deep insights on reflective practices, experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student-centered approaches—ready to embed them into classrooms back home. These reflections formed the foundation for Phase 2—where the focus now shifted to transferring the knowledge to the entire faculty community of SGT. It was followed by monitoring implementation and assessing student impact. To support students in this change of the andragogical and pedagogical approaches, C.A.L.M. Spaces, run by experienced team of Psychologists, was added under CEAPS umbrella. CEAPS continues to grow—conducting collaborative FDPs on topics like coaching and mentoring, leadership, holistic student success, and digital module creation. These sessions not only enrich faculty knowledge but also contribute to the university’s long-term mission of creating globally competent graduates. With its ever-expanding network of expert mentors through collaboration with international and national universities, and benchmarking with their best practices, and supported by the dedicated faculty coordinators, CEAPS at SGT University is setting new standards in higher education. It is more than a center—it's a movement. A commitment to shaping the educators of tomorrow and transforming learning into an engaging, reflective, and impactful journey.
