The ceiling came down hard and in seconds, my world became dark as I was pinned beneath what used to be my home; And then came that kind of silence that messes with your head. Minutes feel like hours. You start bargaining with the dark. You start wondering if anyone knows you’re still breathing. And then— scratching. Through dust, splintered wood and broken concrete, a search and rescue dog crawled in. No hesitation. No fear. Just purpose. He found me. He pressed close. He stayed. While the rescue crews dug—inch by careful inch, this dog never left my side. When I drifted, he nudged me. When I panicked, he grounded me. I didn’t survive that day alone. None of us ever do. To the search and rescue teams: the men and women who run toward destruction while the rest of us run away— thank you. Your patience saves lives. Mine included. And to this extraordinary dog- I don’t have words big enough. So today, It is my honor to acknowledge your courage beyond instinct, loyalty beyond training, and love beyond explanation. You did not just find a survivor. You kept one alive. Also today, with immense pride, I announce the grand opening of the Navy Walk Rescue and Rehabilitation Center for Dogs. This center will be a place of second chances—for strays who need safety, healing, and care. It will also be a place for dogs who show the quiet traits we now recognize as heroic: focus, empathy, resilience, and bravery. Here, they will be trained, supported, and prepared to one day do what saved my life. This center exists because one dog stayed. Because a team refused to quit. You are all a part of this story now—part of the lives that will be saved because you showed up. We honor you tonight. For your courage, your bravery, and your incredible heart, we say thank you.

Maybe the real challenge isn't finding more ways to connect, it's learning to sit with the silence between notifications, we've forgotten how to be present without performing it, how to exist without documenting every moment, until even solitude becomes content.

Being back on set with this crew was just incredible, you know, because we really have that creative shorthand now. There's so much trust between us and it makes the work so much better. Honestly, seeing how everyone committed to the vision was just really inspiring.
