Today I want to share a pretty interesting story from my time in basic training. You know, those first few weeks were tough, but we had some moments that still make me laugh. If you're ready for this one, stick around. And over.

I've always felt that the best songs come from just living life, you know. It’s about those simple moments with your family and the places you grew up. If it’s got a good melody and tells a true story, well, that’s all you really need, and all that.

You know, my grandma always told me, back when I was like, nine or ten in Kentucky, she said don't eat cornbread before swimming. And mama would say, wait an hour after eating, you know? We had all these rules growing up, funny stuff.

And you know, we’re always looking for that next great song, whether I wrote it or someone else did, you know? When you hear a real smash like that, it just jumps out at you. It's all about that connection with the fans and just keeping the music honest.
