So we're back in Nashville now, actually recording in this pretty amazing studio downtown, and it's crazy because back in 2010 we were just trying to get our foot in the door here, sleeping on couches, and now we're working with some really incredible producers.

So yesterday, my dog Max decides he's going to be a director. Walks onto the set, sits in my chair, and starts barking at the crew. I mean, everyone's laughing, but he's dead serious. Had to explain to him that's not how you get promoted in show business.

You know, when I'm writing songs, I kind of just try to tell stories that people can relate to, and sometimes the best ones come from just sitting on the back porch with my guitar and kind of letting whatever comes out, you know, and the fans really connect with that authenticity.

So I was doing this scene with Mark Harmon, and uh, funny story actually - I tried this improvised line, you know, trying to be clever. He just gives me this look, and I'm thinking, "Okay, maybe not my best moment." Sometimes you just gotta learn when to stick to the script.

You know, when we're playing live, it's just real, raw energy, kind of like how we did it back in the day. No fancy stuff, just me and the guys up there with our guitars, feeding off the crowd. That's what music's about, just keeping it authentic.

You see Saul Goodman and you think he's just a guy with a fast mouth and a loud suit, but there's a real person in there. I always try to bring a bit of my own heart to the character, even when he’s doing those truly ridiculous things.

You know, I got this custom guitar pick the other day, had my daughter's birthday engraved on it. If I'm gonna play something special at a show, that's the one I'll use. Just makes those moments mean a little more.

I was cleaning out the garage earlier and found my old guitar. It has been gathering dust for years, honestly. I tuned it up, played a few chords, and it is crazy how those old songs just come flooding back. Makes you realize how much we forget in the rush of life.
