Coral reefs are like underwater rainforests. They cover less than one percent of the ocean but support a quarter of all marine life. Half a billion people depend on them for food and income. But human impact is taking a toll. Eight million tonnes of plastic enter our oceans every year. Ninety percent of large fish stocks are gone compared to 1950. Rising carbon dioxide is acidifying the ocean and bleaching coral reefs. The good news? We can still make a difference. Marine protected areas allow ecosystems to recover. Sustainable fishing and plastic reduction programs can help restore balance. And global cooperation is essential to protect the blue heart of our planet. The ocean connects all life on Earth. Its health is our future — and protecting it is no longer a choice, it’s a responsibility."
