The Francisco Cantón Rosado Park in Valladolid, Yucatán, was once the main square and has witnessed many historical events. In the center of Valladolid, there was a one hundred square meter square where a Mayan pyramid was preserved. The conquistadors demolished the pyramid and used the stones to build the parish church, the town hall, and houses. The "La Mestiza" fountain pays homage to the Yucatecan woman, a product of the fusion of Mayan and Spanish culture. The Temple of San Servacio is the most important in the city. The park is one of the most lively places in Valladolid, at almost any time of day. It is an icon of the city and is frequented by its inhabitants and tourists. In 1900, during the government of General Francisco Cantón Rosado, the park's railing was inaugurated, which the general himself donated. The park is named after this Yucatecan governor who contributed to the development of the region at the end of the 19th century.
