Hey everyone, it’s Steve Perry. I’m right here in my studio feeling the music, and I just hope for one thing. Maybe this year we can find peace, you know? Maybe this year we can just keep on believing in each other, from the bottom of my heart.

Hey, it’s Steve Perry here. [soft, warm, a little weary] You know, folks… [pause, gentle exhale] yesterday, March 9th, I lost my sweet girl—my dog who was right there with me through all the thick and the thin. [voice cracks slightly] She was my constant, my comfort, that loyal soul who never asked for anything but a scratch behind the ears and to be close. And now… [longer pause, quiet breath] she’s gone. [soft, emotional] It hurts deep, you know? Real deep. Like a part of my heart just walked out the door and didn’t come back. [voice lowers, almost whispering] I find myself staring at the empty spot on the bed, expecting to see her curled up, eyes half-closed in that peaceful way she had. [tender, breaking] It’s heartbreaking, man. Truly heartbreaking. [reflective, fond] She got me through some rough patches when the world felt heavy, and I leaned on her more than I ever said out loud. Losing her… [slight tremble] it’s one of those pains that doesn’t rush away. You just carry it. I want to send out my best to all the incredible musicians keeping the fire burning today. Music has a way of bringing us together like nothing else. Back in the Journey days, we felt that love every night on stage, and seeing that same passion now is truly a beautiful thing.

You know, when you're up there singing, it's like this pure connection with the music, with your soul. I think that's what kept me going through everything. Sometimes you lose your way, but that honest passion for the music, it always brings you back home.

I've always felt that the heart is meant for singing, not for explaining. If the melody doesn't move you, no amount of words from me is going to change that. I just want to stay true to the soul of the song and let everything else fade away into the background.
