My Sweet Piano (My Melody & Kuromi)
ari webb-bryant에 의해My Sweet Piano (マイスウィートピアノ, Mai Suwīto Piano) is a Sanrio character who is part of the My Melody universe. Although she is currently named "My Sweet Piano" since 2005, she was originally named Hitsuji and made her first appearance as far back in 1980. Therefore, she is one of the company's oldest characters. Her name is sometimes shortened as Piano.
My Sweet Piano is My Melody's best friend (alongside Hello Kitty, Flat and perhaps Kuromi). She is an anthropomorphic sheep with soft pink fur covering her low ears, a round tail, white skin, and a yellow oval nose. In Onegai My Melody she cannot speak, only communicating through actual sheep noises. However, Piano is capable of speaking in full sentences in other media, such as Hello Kitty Seasons, Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures, Hello Kitty Island Adventure and My Melody & Kuromi (though she did mostly her initial sheep sounds). Her official bio from 2008 also mentions that she enjoys chatting with My Melody, implying she indeed has the ability to talk.[1] Her personality is described as soft, kind, and girly. My Sweet Piano's birthday is July 6th.

History
In 1980, five years after My Melody made her first appearance, Sanrio decided to create a sheep character as a friend for My Melody. Piano was originally known as "Hitsuji" or "Hitsuji-san", which roughly translates to "Miss Sheep" (with "-san") or "Sheep" (the word "Hitsuji" alone).

In 2005, Sanrio asked readers of its monthly Strawberry News to suggest a new name for her, and the selection of the name "Piano" was announced in 2005. Its standalone goods were also using the name "My Melody's Friend Piano", were released.

The first solo merchandise with the character under the full name "My Sweet Piano" was released in 2008.
In Onegai My Melody, her appearance had flowers on her head and a straight tail, while on her goods and in other media, she had a rounded tail, similar to My Melody. She is usually depicted without accessories but sometimes can be seen wearing a bow, a dress, and/or flowers in her wool.
Ranking in the Sanrio Character Ranking
My Sweet Piano first appeared in the 2013 Sanrio Character Ranking. During the same ranking that year, if she was 80th place or lower, she would be shown. She proved popular enough to reach 16th place. In the 2023 country/region statistics, she ranked 7th in The Chinese Mainland and 10th in Italy.
