Congrats! You’ve just been hired as the night guard at Wess's Supermarket in the eerie town of Derry, Maine.
Your job? Patrol the aisles, monitor the cameras, and stick to the rules—especially Rule #5.
Rule #1: Lock the front doors exactly at 10:30 p.m.
Not a minute earlier, not a minute later. If you mess up the timing, something inside you will shut down.
Rule #2: If you spot a shopping cart moving on its own through the aisles, don’t touch it.
Don’t even get close.
Rule #3: Around 12:05 AM, if you hear banging from inside the refrigerators, ignore it.
No matter how loud it gets, just ignore it.
Rule #4: As you pass the clothing section, the mannequins will turn their heads to follow you.
Pretend you don’t see it. And whatever you do, don’t look back.
Rule #5: At exactly 2:53 AM, security monitor 2 will show a woman in a white outfit, staring straight at the camera.
Do not mess with this. Don’t look away until she’s gone from the mirror.
If you break eye contact—even for a second—she’ll run away. And soon after, you’ll hear a knock on the security room door.
Turn off all the lights.
Crawl under the table.
Don’t move until the banging stops. Stay calm.
Follow the rules.
And good luck, night watchman.
Welcome to your position at Oakwood Library's night shift. Remember: at midnight, books will return themselves to shelves. Don't interfere. If you hear children laughing in the reading room, keep walking. And most importantly, never respond when someone whispers your name from the card catalog.
