I was born on the 5th of February, 1985, in Madeira, Portugal. My family was not rich — in fact, life was very tough. My father worked as a gardener, and my mother was a cook. I was the youngest of four children, and from a very young age, football became my escape.
As a boy, I used to kick the ball on the streets of Madeira for hours. My dream was simple: to play football, to make my family proud, and to rise above the struggles we faced. But the path was never easy.
At the age of 12, I left my home and moved to Lisbon to join Sporting CP’s academy. It was the hardest decision of my life — I was just a boy, far from my family, crying every night because I missed them. But deep down, I knew sacrifice was the price of greatness.
I trained harder than anyone else. I pushed my body, I pushed my mind. At 15, doctors told me I had a heart condition that could end my career before it even began. But I didn’t give up. Surgery saved me, and I returned to the pitch stronger than before.
By 2003, my dream became reality. I signed for Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I was just 18, but I carried the hunger of a man who had known struggle. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, I grew — not just as a player, but as a person.
From there, my journey took me to Real Madrid. The Bernabéu became my stage, and together we created history — four Champions League titles, countless goals, and moments the world will never forget. People called me “CR7.” They spoke about my speed, my power, my determination.
