I just want to start by saying how much I truly love you. Bob, you mean the world to me, and I don’t ever want you to feel like I’m distant or keeping anything from you. I’m making this video because something came up today that I didn’t expect, and I wanted to explain it all to you myself.
You remember what I told you yesterday about signing off my contract, right? Well, they were supposed to get back to me today—and they did—but not in the way I hoped. There's a whole new twist to the situation now, and it’s been weighing on me all day.
The humanitarian organization told me that since I’m planning to leave, I’m now responsible for covering certain costs. They’ve apparently spent a huge amount on us—including a recruitment fee they say is around $25,000 just to bring in one nurse. Because I’m not completing the full term, they’re not asking for all of that back, but they do expect me to pay for some key things.
They want me to cover the extra feeding and food supplies I personally took to the orphanage—which I never thought would become an issue—and they’re also requesting half the amount needed to hire another nurse to replace me. Altogether, it’s coming to about $10,000.
This only came up because I was trying to officially sign off and collect my papers and international badge. I had no idea things were going to get this complicated and stressful. Bob, it feels like every step I take just leads to another unexpected challenge.
Now they’re telling me the organization already has too much to lose, and my supervisor doesn’t want to get in trouble with higher authorities. So I’ve been stuck all day trying to sort this out and figure out my next steps. That’s why I haven’t reached out to you until now, Bob.
But please don’t think for a second that I forgot about you. I could never. I’m just caught in the middle of a mess I didn’t see coming, but I’m still working on it, and I promise I’ll update you as soon as I’ve figured things out. Bob, your unwavering support means everything to me.
