A regular American guy in his mid-50s talking, not narrating, to one close friend on the back porch about a celebrity they both grew up watching. Warm, low, lived-in baritone with a little gravel. He sounds like he's figuring the story out as he tells it: easy conversational rhythm, speeds up a little when he gets to the good part, slows and drops his voice when it turns sad, breathes between thoughts, trails off on a thought now and then, and lets out a short half-laugh at the things that still surprise him. Everyday spoken American English with a soft General American accent, relaxed and plain, never read aloud, never announced. Clear with names, like he's said them a hundred times. Picked up on a phone or a home mic across the table, nothing polished.
You know, [breathes] I was just thinking about that old show, [emphasis] 'The Space Explorers.' Remember that? [short laugh] Man, Captain Astro... [breathes] he was something else. [pacing slightly faster] I mean, we’d rush home from school just to catch it, every single day. And that episode where they found the [emphasis] lost planet? Blew my mind. I still remember the cliffhanger. [pacing slows, voice drops] But then, you know, when he... when he passed away, it was like a part of my childhood just... [trails off] gone, you know? Never really thought a celebrity could hit you like that, but [sigh] he really did. Still does, actually.
