THE PARTS OF AN AEROPLANE
The fuselage is the body of the plane. The port side is the left side of the fuselage. The starboard is the right side of the fuselage. The starboard and port side refer only to the sides of aeroplanes and ships.
The fuselage contains the passenger cabins, the cargo holds, the cockpit. The pilot's cockpit is at the front of the fuselage. The cockpit contains the flying instruments and the controls. There are portholes on the portside and starboard side of the fuselage. There is a window in front of the cockpit and we call it a windscreen.
In a jet plane, there are four jet engines on the wings. A jet aircraft does not have propellers. Only piston-engine and turbo-prop planes have propellers. The flaps are on the wings. There is one on each side of the fuselage. We use it for landing and take-off. When we lower it, it can act as a brake. It can increase the lift of wings when take-off.
There are also ailerons on the wings. We use it to bank an aircraft. The pilot raises the aileron one the left side and lowers the ailerons on the right side. This banks the plane to the left.
At the rear of the plane is tail assembly. The tail assembly has an unmovable fin and a rudder. The rudder is moveable. We turn it to the right and the nose of the plane yaws to the right. The tail moves to the left. The plane makes a right turn. We turn it to the left and the nose of the plane yaws to the left. The tail moves to the right. The plane makes a left turn.
Airplane Parts Definition and Function
1. Horizontal Stabilizer
The horizontal stabilizer is located at the tail of the airplane. Its function is to control the pitch, which is the up and down movement of the aircraft.
2. Vertical Stabilizer
The vertical stabilizer is the vertical fin at the rear of the airplane. It helps keep the airplane stable and maintains straight flight.
3. Rudder
The rudder is attached to the vertical stabilizer. It controls yaw, which moves the nose of the airplane to the left or right.
4. Elevator
The elevator is attached to the horizontal stabilizer. It controls the pitch by moving the nose of the airplane up or down.
5. Flaps
Flaps are located on the trailing edge of the wings. They increase lift and drag, especially during take-off and landing.
6. Aileron
Ailerons are control surfaces on the wings. They control roll, helping the airplane turn left or right.
7. Spoiler
Spoilers are located on the upper surface of the wings. They reduce lift and increase drag to help slow down the airplane after landing.
8. Slats
Slats are located on the leading edge of the wings. They help increase lift at low speeds and prevent stalling.
9. Wing
Wings are the main lifting surfaces of the airplane. They generate lift and allow the aircraft to fly.
10. Jet Engine
Jet engines are mounted under the wings. They produce thrust, which moves the airplane forward.
11. Cockpit
The cockpit is located at the front of the airplane. It is where the pilot controls the aircraft and monitors flight instruments.
12. Body (Fuselage)
The body, also called the fuselage, is the main structure of the airplane. It holds the cockpit, passengers, cargo, and connects all parts of the aircraft together.
The wings of anarrow plane have important parts. The aileron is on the back of the wing. The flaps help with taking off and landing. The winglets are at the tip of wings. These parts help the plane fly better and save fole. In aviation.
