Description
I’m Hemasunder, working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bharat Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET) for the past six years. It has been a fulfilling journey to mentor and guide young aspiring engineers while contributing to one of the most vibrant and forward-thinking departments on campus. Mechanical Engineering is one of the most dynamic and evergreen branches in the engineering domain. It serves as the foundation of every industry — from automotive and aerospace to robotics, energy, and manufacturing. The versatility and depth this field offers are unmatched, and I firmly believe it is the ideal choice for students who wish to design, build, and innovate solutions that power the world. At BIET, we ensure that our students don’t just study mechanical engineering — they live it. From their very first year, students are encouraged to engage in project-based learning. Whether it’s building racecars, working HVAC systems, or automated machines, our students are exposed to practical, real-world problem-solving early in their academic journey. Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and simulation tools including CAD/CAM, CNC machines, ANSYS, SolidWorks, Mechatronics kits, and more. These tools allow our students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving them a hands-on understanding of mechanical systems. For those interested in higher education and specialized skills, we offer a postgraduate program — M.Tech in CAD/CAM — which prepares students for careers in design, simulation, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Each student in our department is supported through individual mentorship. As faculty members, we work closely with them to track academic progress, guide their professional development, and help them discover their strengths and interests. Our Mechanical Engineering Club is a hub of innovation. Students actively participate in design contests, model expos, technical symposiums, and national-level hackathons. These activities build confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills.
