Hi, my name is Philip, and I am excited about this role because building strong learning communities is what I do best. I have helped grow and manage large digital communities with thousands of learners on the IBM SkillsBuild platform. I worked with community leaders from learning institutions in South Africa and Morocco. IBM SkillsBuild is a global digital learning community that supports institutions from different countries who host their learners on the platform. In one major program led for ITExperience, the organization I worked with to represent learners, my goal was to grow community membership to 20,000 and engage 10,000 active learners within 12 months. I started in May, and by December of the same year, we had recorded over 21,000 members and 8,000 active learners, achieving this result four months ahead of schedule. We achieved this growth through focused programs such as a virtual tech hackathon, which was the first of its kind, as well as advocacy programs and visits to universities. These efforts helped us reach students who were ready to join a community that matched their interests and supported them in building or upgrading their tech skills. What makes me effective is my clear and practical approach to community growth. First, I start with a clear goal. The goal is to engage 10,000 active learners to complete courses and projects on IBM SkillsBuild while growing the community to 20,000 members. Every message, event, and activity is designed to move learners toward this goal. Second, I focus on real value. Learners stay engaged when they see results. That is why I support mentorship, career guidance, personal branding sessions, skill workshops, and real world projects that help learners build strong portfolios. Third, I use smart engagement strategies. I activate communities through WhatsApp and Telegram at scale, run webinars and knowledge sharing sessions, organize networking events with industry leaders, and take programs directly to schools and universities through career days and advocacy visits. Most importantly, I create communities where people feel supported, seen, and confident. I communicate clearly, follow up consistently, and always give learners simple next steps. This is why I believe I am the right fit. I do not just grow communities. I build active, purpose driven ecosystems that help people learn, grow, and succeed.
