Ideally, we will need 8 photos, but for this tutorial, to keep it simple, we will only use 3: one front view, and one from each side (right and left), as shown here. After transferring the photos to your computer, we will create reference markers to make the workflow easier inside Blender when using the FaceBuilder Addon."
"We will place markers on the key facial features: eyes, nose, mouth, face contour, and eyebrows in each reference photo. This step will greatly assist us during the process. Once the markings are completed, we will move on to Blender."
"The first step in Blender will be to install the FaceBuilder Addon, which is included in the files you received with this tutorial. With Blender open, go to Edit > Preferences. In the window that opens, go to the upper-right corner, click the dropdown arrow, and select Install from Disk. Simply choose the Addon file, and that’s it — installation complete."
"Now, in Blender’s startup scene, select the default cube and delete it. Then press N to open the side panel and scroll down until you find FaceBuilder. Press Numpad 1 to switch to the Front View. Next, click on Add Image and select the reference photos with the markers. Click on the first image and choose Auto Align."
"Now we will begin our modeling process. Each red dot represents a modeling point of our character, and we will move it to match the yellow markers we created during the image editing stage. This step must be repeated for all the reference photos loaded into FaceBuilder."
"After completing the modeling and once everything looks the way you want, we will move on to creating the texture. To do this, scroll down in the same panel and go to Textures > Create Texture. Do not change any settings — just confirm, and the texture will be generated. You may notice that the reference markers are still visible on the texture, but don’t worry, these will not cause any issues when we export the model to Unreal Engine."
"Now we need to export the textures first. Click on Export, and then export the Model file. Below the texture section, go to Export and select FBX for Games. That’s it — our model is now ready to be imported into Unreal and used to create our MetaHuman."
"First of all, you need to have the MetaHuman Plugin installed in the Epic Games Launcher. Once it is installed, open Unreal Engine. After it loads, go to Edit > Plugins and search for MetaHuman. Then, enable all the MetaHuman options and click Restart Now in the small window that will appear in the bottom-right corner."
"The next steps will not require narration — just follow each step very carefully, and everything will turn out perfectly."
"Just a note about MetaHuman: some errors may appear, but these are usually minor and can be fixed with simple adjustments. Be patient and 'play around' with editing your character until it looks as close as possible to your reference. I hope this helps."
