The building itself is a historical treasure. The Wasaka Museum is a 'Bubungan Tinggi,' a new building, a Banjar traditional house that has been around for more than two centuries, since around eighteen ten. At first, the museum was the home of a diamond merchant named Datu Jalal.
After Datu Jalal's death, the house was no longer occupied by subsequent descendants. But its story didn't end there. In nineteen eighty eight, thanks to a suggestion from the Commander of the Kodam VI Tanjungpura, ZA Maulani, the government bought the house from the heirs. This act of preservation ensured that this architectural gem would be protected for future generations."
