بواسطة Ene AdekaA Place Called Forward
Lately, I’ve been thinking.
I’ve been thinking about opportunities. About the doors I didn’t walk through because I was scared. About the moments I hesitated, overthought, or let doubt drown out my courage and even competence.
Like you, I’ve made mistakes...some loud, some silent. I stayed too long in rooms I should have left, and walked away too soon from things that mattered. I know what it feels like to carry crystalized regret. To wish you had been braver, more courageous and damn the odds. To Just Do it. Like Nike said.
But I’ve also learned something precious: there’s a place beyond all of that. A place past shame, past failure, past missed chances. It’s called Forward.
Forward is not a perfect place. It doesn’t erase the past, but it doesn’t let the past dictate everything either. Forward is where healing happens. It’s where courage shows up, even if it’s still shaking. It’s where I remind myself that fear doesn't get the final say and neither do regret or disappointment.
I don’t know what your version of "Forward" looks like. Maybe it’s making peace with your story. Maybe it’s sending that message, writing that book, applying again, forgiving them—or forgiving yourself.
Forward is not permission, it is decision.
Decision to try again.
To dream differently.
To grow anyway.
And no, forward doesn’t always mean relocation or taking a trip down memory lane. It doesn’t mean abandoning everything or burning bridges. Sometimes, forward means staying right where you are and choosing to begin again. It means looking at what’s broken and deciding to rebuild. Even if the bridge has water under it, you can still go back and mend it.
Forward simply means that your setbacks no longer define you.
You realize that you can cry, pray, heal, forgive, and let go. That you can choose joy again. And that the most powerful part of that journey is you—it is your choice to keep moving.
Yes, on your way to this place called forward, you will leave so many versions of you in the past. But whether you arrive before me or after me, if you’re walking this road too, we shall all see each other in this place called forward.
You are allowed to grow, change, and pursue joy again.
I’m walking forward
And if you’re walking too, I’ll see you in this place called Forward.
