Reading Passage: A Day in the Life of Mariana
Mariana is a nurse at a large hospital in the city. Every day, she wakes up at 6:00 a.m. and gets ready for work. She eats a quick breakfast, usually toast and coffee, and leaves her apartment by 6:45. The hospital is not far from her home, so she walks there.
Her shift starts at 7:00 a.m. She works in the emergency room, where she helps doctors take care of patients. She checks vital signs, gives medicine, and talks to patients to make them feel better. Sarah loves her job because she enjoys helping people, but it is also very stressful.
During her lunch break, she eats in the staff cafeteria with her coworkers. They talk about their day and share stories. After lunch, she returns to work until 3:00 p.m. Sometimes, she stays longer if the hospital is very busy.
When she finishes work, Mariana goes to the gym or takes a walk in the park. In the evening, she makes dinner, watches a little TV, and reads a book before going to bed. She usually goes to sleep around 10:30 p.m.
On weekends, Mariana visits her family or goes out with friends. She likes to go to the movies, try new restaurants, or relax at home. Although her job is hard, Mariana feels happy because she makes a difference in people's lives.
