The story of La Llorona is a very popular urban legend in all Latin American countries. It tells of a woman who loses her children and becomes a lost soul, wandering the world in vain searching for her children, disturbing those who hear her with her cries. Each country has a version or adaptation of the story, but the plot is always similar. The legend has its origins in pre-Columbian culture, before the arrival of the Spanish.

That night, their father, who had abandoned them long ago, returned home. The man was a monster, and he slammed the door and burst in, shouting for everyone to come and greet him. The terrified children hid, and the mother, out of love for her children, came face to face with her husband. The woman suffered a blow that left her unconscious for several hours. When the mother awoke, she searched every corner of the house for her children.

But neither the children nor her husband were anywhere to be seen. Desperate, she ran through the storm, crying and shouting their names. Days, months, years, many years passed, searching. Until finally, one night, she died of sadness. No one knew anything about the children, no one saw them again.
