I remember back in 1932, there was this dear family living down on Cedar Street. The mother, bless her heart, would bake bread every Wednesday morning, and the smell would drift through the whole neighborhood. Such kind people they were, always sharing what little they had.

When I was young, we had this neighbor, very, very kind woman. She would come over and help with the garden work, and her children played in our yard. But times were different then, and people worked harder in those days, helping each other more.

And when I was young, very young, we had this neighbor who lived all alone in that old house. She worked in her garden every day, and people, they didn't understand why she kept to herself so much. But I knew there was a story there, a sad story.

When I was young, very young, we lived in that small house near the creek. Times were different then, you see. We didn't have much, but the neighbors, they were kind people. They would share what they had, and my mother, she would always make extra bread to give back.

When I think back to those days on the farm, we were all so very, very busy with the daily work. The young ones nowadays, they don't know how it was, working from sunrise, and the community, well, they all helped each other in those times.

You see, back in those days, we had this young girl in our neighborhood, and she was very, very lonely. Her mother had passed, and the community, they tried to help her, but things were different then. She worked in the fields, and slowly, slowly, people began to notice her strength.
