Once upon a time, in a city not too big but full of stories, lived a girl named Tata. She was still in high school, known for her cheerful and caring personality, but also a bit sensitive person. She was in a relationship with a young boy named Geniousa, a gentle and understanding boy.
Their relationship had been going on for quite some time, filled with laughter and happiness. But one of the most testing moments in their relationship happened on an ordinary afternoon.
That day, Tata was walking alone in the city center after coming home from school. She felt like buying her favorite drink at her favorite cafe. However, her steps stopped in front of the cafe's transparent glass door when her eyes caught a figure she's really familiar with.
In the corner of the room, she saw Geniousa sitting face to face with another girl. They looked so close, laughing together, and talking warmly.
Tata's heart beat faster and faster. Discomfort began to envelop inside her heart.
"Who is she?" she muttered to herself.
Unfortunately, she didn't dare to go in. Her heart was filled with doubts and jealousy. She chose to turn around and leave, leaving the cafe with mixed feelings.
Since then, Tata changed. She began to distance herself from Geniousa. His messages were only answered briefly, her calls were often not answered purposely, and when they met, she was mostly silent.
Geniousa felt something was off. He noticed Tata's behavior has changed. The usually cheerful girl now feels cold and different. He tried asking her via message, but Tata's answers were always short and flat, nothing more.
Until finally, he decided to meet her and ask her in person. That afternoon, Geniousa came to Tata's house. After knocking on the door and being greeted by Tata's mother, he walked to the backyard, where Tata often spent her time when she felt like being alone.
Tata was sitting on a beautiful yet simple wooden bench, staring blankly at the sky changes color as the sun began to set. Geniousa gently approached her, but she ignored him.
"Is something wrong? What have gotten into you Ta?" Geniousa asked.
Tata remained silent.
"I know for sure you've changed. What's wrong?" he asked again gently.
Tata finally dared to speak.
"I saw you at the cafe... with another girl."
Geniousa tried to remember. Then, his face suddenly showed an expression of surprised yet followed by a little smile.
"You saw me at the cafe?" he repeated.
Tata nodded. "You two looked very close... I thought that she's your..."
Geniousa sighed, then smiled. "Tata, that's my cousin, Dinda. Her father just passed away and she needed someone to confide in."
Literally, Tata froze.
Her heart was filled with guilt. She didn't expect that her feelings had made her prejudiced without confirming the truth.
"So... you're not cheating?" Tata's voice sounded small.
Geniousa shook his head.
"Of course not. Why would I?"
Tata bowed her head down, feeling ashamed of her behavior all this time.
"Sorry... I jumped to conclusions way too fast."
Geniousa smiled. "Next time, ask me first before jumping into conclusions would you?"
Tata nodded. "I would... I promise."
Geniousa smiled in relief. "I also promise, if there's something I do that might make you doubt, I'll talk to you beforehand."
Twilight began to fall.
The misunderstanding became a lesson for both Tata and Geniousa. They learned that communication and mutual trust are paramount.
