God desires to build His dwelling place, but Satan does everything he can to frustrate and interrupt this plan. The book of Exodus not only records in detail the construction of God’s dwelling place, but also clearly describes God’s judgment on the world, exposing the world’s evil nature of opposing God.
This exposure is so that God’s people may know that behind the seemingly prosperous and beautiful world is only darkness and death, and thus willingly and urgently leave the world, typified by Egypt. For centuries, God has been calling and preparing His people for the building of His dwelling place. At the same time, Satan never stops corrupting God’s people
and frustrating God’s plan. Today, our age is proof that this phenomenon has intensified. Modern convenience accelerates our dependence on the world, replacing the simple trust that God’s people should have toward God, and causing them to forget God's will. It even changes the nature of the church life to express Christ’s testimony.
Today, various online media, social platforms, and e-commerce services allow us to work, study, shop, and entertain ourselves without ever leaving our homes. People’s dependence on their mobile phones has long surpassed their dependence on God. Seemingly, we have many connections, but actually, there are no real relationships. We are gradually losing the ability to have heart-to-heart fellowship with people.
This seemingly fulfilling and busy life is a deception. The COVID-19 pandemic, which began at the end of 2019 and continues today, has affected the entire world, and no one has been spared. It is a great exposure of the beautiful vision painted by the world. In this disaster, the true face of the world is revealed: nation rises against nation, and people rise against people. Lies and sophistry fill the media, exposing man’s selfishness and ignorance.
The Lord uses this pandemic to expose the world's weakness and fragility, and to test our church life. As God’s people, is our life of faith, including all our spiritual activities—prayer, meetings, and fellowship—real? Are we Egyptians living according to the world? Or are we true Israelites living according to God’s eternal life? We refuse to be Israelites living in Egypt, and we refuse to allow the world to live in the church.
Having heard this, has the reality you haven’t used for so long been revived? Has your cold heart been rekindled? The book of Exodus should not be an ancient event for the Israelites.
It shouldn't be just a topic of conversation for believers, or a subject for children’s Sunday school, rather, it must be our daily and real experience. As I pondered these things, I saw that God doesn't want us to leave the world physically, but to remain in the world without relying on it, to be in the world but not of the world.
We are witnesses living in the world, not according to the world, but according to God. A still, small voice urges me to look back: the king of the world has been judged, his lies exposed, the world’s attraction no longer exists, and the umbilical cord of dependence on the world has
been severed. The world has lost its power and has nothing in me.
My world, my Egypt, has been buried, left in the dead water forever, far, far behind me. Saints, today is a glorious, free exodus! Come out of Egypt, the world, bondage, and darkness, because we are God’s Israel, having forever left Egypt to serve God!
