Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is changing the way we shop online. It helps businesses personalise the customer experience, automate tasks, and predict what we might want to buy next. It’s being used in product recommendations, customer service chatbots, pricing decisions, and even in how websites show us ads. I chose this topic because AI doesn’t just help businesses—it’s also changing the psychology of shopping. Many people trust AI without realising it, while others feel uncomfortable or unsure about how their data is being used. There are also ethical concerns, like how transparent companies are when they use AI, and whether customers are being influenced in ways they don’t understand. The purpose of my research is to explore this relationship in more depth. My four research objectives are as follows: First, I want to examine how AI influences consumer decisions when shopping online. Second, I aim to analyse how AI recommendation systems affect what we choose to buy. Third, I want to explore how much people actually trust AI in marketing. And finally, I will identify any ethical concerns related to privacy and manipulation in AI-powered e-commerce environments.
