During his second term (after being re-elected in 2024), Trump continued his strongly pro-Israel stance and made several controversial moves that affected Palestinians and U.S.-Palestinian relations. 1. Support for Israel Trump reaffirmed U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel (originally declared in 2017). His administration blocked international efforts critical of Israel at the United Nations. The U.S. gave strong support to Israel's military actions, especially during conflicts in Gaza. 2. Stance on Gaza War (2024–2025) Trump sided with Israel during the 2024–2025 Gaza conflict, blaming Hamas entirely for the violence. He criticized pro-Palestinian protests in the U.S. and accused them of promoting antisemitism. His administration worked to limit student and activist visas for those participating in anti-Israel protests. 3. Aid and Diplomacy The Trump administration cut aid to the Palestinian Authority and maintained policies from his first term, arguing they “reward terrorism.” Trump also shut down diplomatic channels between the U.S. and Palestinian representatives, limiting peace negotiation efforts. --- Public and International Reaction These policies drew strong praise from pro-Israel groups, especially in the U.S. and among conservative allies.
