Have you ever heard the story when the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "O Allah! I am free from what Khalid has done"? The Prophet had sent Khalid ibn Al-Walid to the tribe of Jadhima. Khalid invited them to Islam, but they were unable to express themselves properly. Instead of saying "Aslamna" (we have accepted Islam), they said "Saba'na! Saba'na!" (we have changed religion), which was a term commonly used by the Quraysh to refer to apostasy. Khalid misunderstood their statement and began killing some of them and taking others as captives. He distributed the captives among his companions. The next day, Khalid ordered each man to kill his captive, but the companions refused. They told Khalid that they would report everything to the Prophet when they returned. When they informed the Prophet of what had happened, he raised both his hands and said twice, "O Allah! I am free from what Khalid has done."
