My Daily Benefit - December 22 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. John 6:32-33 (KJV) Hello! Welcome to *My Daily Benefit*. Today, we reflect on “The Bread God Gave Us for a Lifetime”—Part 1. Bread, as we see in the Bible, represents many things. When Jesus taught us to pray, *“Give us this day our daily bread,” He wasn’t only referring to physical bread. Bread holds a deeper, spiritual meaning. The first representation is this: Bread as the Word of God. The Bible is spiritual food for our souls. Deuteronomy 8:3 (NLT) says: “People do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” When the Israelites journeyed to the Promised Land, God sent manna from heaven to sustain them physically. But more importantly, He used it to teach them that life is sustained by His Word. Real, fulfilling life comes from feeding on every word that proceeds from the Lord. Just as our bodies need physical nourishment, our souls need spiritual nourishment, too. The second representation is this: Bread as Jesus and His salvation. Jesus used bread during communion to symbolize His sacrifice for us. Each time we take the bread and drink from the cup, it reminds us of God’s incredible love and the price Jesus paid for our salvation. John 6:35 (NLT) records Jesus saying: I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior is like partaking in the bread that sustains for eternity. Jesus satisfies every need—physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual. He offers strength, satisfaction, nourishment, and eternal health far greater than any physical bread can provide. As we enter the Christmas season, let’s remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. He is the true bread of life. Take time to worship, pray, and reflect on the One who came to save us. Stay tuned for Part 2 of *The Bread God Gave Us for a Lifetime*. Until then, focus on Jesus, our eternal sustainer. Merry Christmas! God bless you!
