Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) Hemedti is the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a powerful paramilitary group in Sudan. He rose to prominence as a commander of the "Janjaweed" militias during the Darfur conflict in the early 2000s. Since April 2023, Hemedti has been engaged in a violent power struggle against the Sudanese Army. Between 2023 and 2026, the RSF has been accused of committing genocide and ethnic cleansing against civilians. The conflict is widely classified as a proxy war, as much of the RSF’s weapons, tactical equipment, and financial funding have been traced back to the UAE. This external support has fueled the militia's ability to sustain large-scale operations and systematically target populations throughout Sudan.
