Every journey has a story behind it.
From the outside, being a DJ can look like a life filled with music, travel, and unforgettable nights. And while that is definitely part of it, there's another side that people don't always get to see.
The early mornings.
The travelling.
The preparation.
The pressure of showing up every single time and creating an experience for people.
This trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar was a perfect example of that.
I wasn't actually planning to film a vlog during this trip. The main reason I was there was work. I had events to play, schedules to follow, and things to prepare for.
But looking back at the moments I captured, I realised there was a story worth sharing.
Not just the performances, but everything that happened in between.
The journey started in Dar es Salaam.
Before every event, there is always a process that happens behind the scenes. People usually see the final moment — the lights, the crowd, the music — but they don't always see everything that leads up to it.
Making sure everything is organised.
Meeting the team.
Understanding the venue.
Preparing the right music.
Making sure that when the first song plays, everything feels effortless.
My first event was at Elements Club in Dar es Salaam, and the energy that night was incredible.
There's something special about standing behind the decks and seeing people connect with the music. Different people from different backgrounds, all sharing the same moment.
That's one of the things I love most about what I do.
Music has a way of bringing people together.
After Dar es Salaam, the journey continued to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar has always been a place that carries a different kind of energy.
The island moves differently. Life feels slower. The atmosphere, the people, the beaches, and the culture all create an experience that is hard to explain unless you're actually there.
This part of the trip was something I was really looking forward to.
One of the main reasons I travelled to Zanzibar was for a beach wedding.
And honestly, the location was everything you imagine when you think about Zanzibar.
Beautiful views.
The ocean.
The peaceful surroundings.
A perfect setting for a special celebration.
But even in moments like this, there is always work happening behind the scenes.
Before the guests arrive, before the music starts, before everyone begins enjoying themselves, there is preparation.
That is something I've learned over the years as a DJ.
The job is not just about playing music. It's about creating an atmosphere. Understanding the moment. Reading the room. Knowing when a song can change the entire energy of a place.
And sometimes, travelling for work gives you a chance to experience things you wouldn't normally experience.
Between events, there are moments where you get to slow down.
You get to appreciate where you are.
You get to meet new people.
You get to see a different side of the world.
Because as much as this career is about performing, it's also about the experiences that come with it.
Every destination leaves something behind.
Every crowd teaches you something.
Every event creates a memory.
And one thing I've realised from travelling is that music is truly universal.
It doesn't matter where you are in the world. Different cultures, different languages, different backgrounds — once the right song comes on, everyone understands.
Everyone feels something.
That's the power of music.
Looking back at this trip, I'm grateful for the opportunity to do what I love and experience places like Tanzania and Zanzibar through it.
It's not just about the shows.
It's about the journey.
The people.
The moments in between.
And those are the memories that stay with you.
