If you believe your voice has been used without your consent, a properly submitted DMCA request is the formal path to having it reviewed and addressed.

What Is a DMCA Takedown Request?

A DMCA takedown notice is a formal request to a platform asking them to remove content that infringes on your copyright or intellectual property rights. Under the DMCA, platforms that respond promptly to valid takedown requests are protected from liability — which means they have a strong incentive to process them seriously.

For Fish Audio specifically, a valid DMCA request needs to establish two things clearly:

Who you are — and that you have the legal standing to make this request.

What was used — and that it belongs to you or your client.

Both require supporting documentation. A request without materials can't be acted on, which is why preparing the right evidence before you submit saves significant time.

How to File a DMCA Request on Fish Audio — Step by Step

Step 1 — Open a Support Case Manually

If you'd rather file manually than use the Voice Ownership Dispute flow described above (or you don't have a specific model page to file from), you can open a case directly:

1. Click the settings icon in the top-right navigation (next to your profile avatar)
2. Select Support Cases
3. Click + New case
4. Set the request type to Model report, and include the Model ID or URL you're reporting
5. In the Description field, state clearly that this is a DMCA takedown request and briefly describe the nature of the infringement
6. Attach your evidence under Evidence and attachments (supports image, audio, and PDF files — up to 5 files, 50MB total)
7. Click Send request

Step 2 — Prepare Your Identity Verification

Before Fish Audio can act on a DMCA request, we need to verify that you are who you say you are — and that you have the legal standing to make the request.

✅ If you are the voice actor yourself: → A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID card)

✅ If you are acting on behalf of a voice actor: → A signed authorization letter from the voice actor, explicitly granting you the authority to file on their behalf → Your own identification alongside the authorization document

This step protects both parties. It prevents fraudulent takedown requests and ensures that when Fish Audio acts on a report, it acts on behalf of a legitimate rights holder.

Step 3 — Prepare Your Evidence of Ownership

In addition to verifying your identity, you need to demonstrate that the voice in question belongs to you or your client. The stronger your documentation, the faster the review.

✅ Professional credits: → IMDB credits listing you as a voice actor on a specific production → Film, game, or animation credits where your voice work is documented → Streaming platform credits or liner notes identifying your voice performance

✅ Public documentation of your work: → Official announcements on verified social media accounts (e.g., a post announcing a voice role) → Press releases or news coverage identifying you as the voice behind a specific production → Published collaboration reports from studios or production companies

✅ Contracts and agreements (where applicable): → Licensing agreements, talent contracts, or other documentation establishing ownership of the recordings in question

The goal is to make it straightforward for Fish Audio's team to connect the dots: this person is this voice, and here is the documented record of that.

What does not constitute valid evidence

A link to a voice model with the note "this sounds like me" is not sufficient grounds for a DMCA takedown. Subjective similarity — even if genuine — cannot be acted on without documentation connecting your identity to the voice in question. Fish Audio's review team cannot make legal determinations based on listening alone.

What Happens After You Submit a DMCA Request?

Fish Audio reviews each DMCA request on its merits. Once your identity and ownership evidence has been verified, the team assesses whether the content meets the criteria for removal or other remediation.

Fish Audio's Terms of Service prohibit the unauthorized use of another person's voice or likeness. A well-documented request gives the review team everything they need to act promptly.
