It was past midnight when I got called into the hospital. One patient—Room 209—kept asking to speak with me. I was just a junior psychiatrist… no clue why he insisted. When I walked in, he was already staring at the door. Pale… eyes wide… whispering. “Doctor,” he said, “don’t trust the nurses. They’re not… real.” I asked what he meant. He leaned in slowly. “They told me I wouldn’t wake up after tonight.” I smiled, thinking he was just paranoid. Until I checked his chart. The file… was completely blank. No name. No admission date. I ran to the hallway to ask for help. But the hallway—was gone. Just darkness. No staff. No exit. When I turned back… the patient was gone too. All that remained… was a nurse’s uniform, soaked in blood, with a note pinned to it: “One of us now.”
