Back in my day, we had to work harder for everything. Now with these computers and phones, life is different. Sometimes I wonder if it's better or worse. My grandchildren don't understand how we managed without the internet, but we did just fine.

I remember back in 1812, when I was just a little girl, there was this lovely old church on Main Street. Every Sunday, we'd gather there, all the families from around town. The minister's wife, Mrs. Thompson, would always bring fresh-baked bread for the children after service.

You know, back in '69, we had this sergeant who couldn't tell his left from his right. One day during drill, he got our whole platoon marching in circles! Looking back now, it's pretty funny. These are the stories I love sharing with you folks.

I remember working with Ed Sullivan back in 1952, 1953. What a show that was, that was. We had all these wonderful performers coming through - dancers, comedians, the whole thing thing. Those were really the golden days of television.

I remember back in 1932, there was this lovely family living down on Cedar Street. The mother, bless her heart, would bake fresh bread every morning, and the smell would drift through the whole neighborhood. Those were simpler times, you see, when neighbors truly knew each other.

I remember back when I was just a young girl, there was this lovely old general store on Main Street. Mr. Thompson, the shopkeeper, would always give us children a piece of candy when we'd come in. That was in 1915, and things were so different then.

I remember when I was just a little girl, maybe six or seven, there was this wonderful bakery on Main Street. The baker, Mrs. Thompson, would always give us children a warm cookie when we passed by. Such kindness you don't see much nowadays.

You see, back when I was young, there was this family down the road, very, very poor they were. The mother worked so hard, taking in washing from other folks. Her children, they didn't have much, but she made sure they went to school every day.
